The Hike Was Brutal. The Silence Was Worse

I thought the Calanques would be all turquoise water and perfect cliffs. Instead, I spent three hours sweating through a shirt I hated, scrambling over rocks that looked better in photos. The sun was relentless. My water ran out halfway. At the top, I expected some kind of revelation—at least a rush of relief. But it was just quiet. Not peaceful, just empty. I sat there, legs shaking, watching a couple take selfies and a kid throw stones into the void. I realized I’d come all this way hoping for something to change. But the view didn’t fix anything. I still had to walk back down. #Travel #TravelConfessions #SoloTravelTruth
