20+ years a Jets fan—just learned our name's wild origin

I’ve been a Jets fan for like 20+ years (yes, I know, I hate myself too), and I just learned something that honestly blew my mind about how we got our name. So apparently back in the day, Sonny Werblin bought the team when they were still called the New York Titans. And when he was thinking about what to rename them, he picked “Jets” for two reasons that are actually pretty clever: First - they were gonna be playing near LaGuardia Airport, so the whole aviation theme made sense. But here’s the part that got me - he also wanted it to rhyme with the Mets because they’d both be playing at Shea Stadium! Like, how random is that? The guy literally wanted our team name to have a nice ring with the baseball team we’d be sharing a stadium with. I’ve been following this team through decades of pain and somehow never knew this. Makes you wonder if the rhyming thing was good luck for the Mets and cursed us instead 😂 #NFL #NewYorkJets
