Nature Was Stunning. I Was Numb Anyway

I kept waiting for the view to fix something. North Cascades is all jagged peaks and impossible blue lakes—like a screensaver you can actually walk through. But halfway up the trail, my legs burned and my mind wandered back to the same old worries. I took a photo, then another, hoping one would look like how I felt inside. None did. People say nature heals. Maybe it does, if you’re open to it. But sometimes, you’re just a person on a path, surrounded by beauty you can’t quite touch. I reached the summit, snapped a shot, and scrolled through my camera roll.
