Slovenia in summer is supposed to be a hiker’s dream—emerald lakes, wildflower valleys, mountains that look like they were photoshopped. I went hoping the trails would clear my head. But halfway up Triglav, I realized I was just as restless as I’d been at home. The views were unreal, but I kept checking my phone for signal, thinking about emails, about the life I’d pressed pause on. I wanted to feel awe. Mostly, I felt tired. No one tells you that sometimes, the scenery changes but you don’t. You can hike for hours and still carry yourself with you, every step. #TravelExpectations #HikingTruths #MentalLoad #Travel
