I thought hiking Langtang would be some kind of reset. The air was thin, the sky sharp, and every step was a negotiation with my own body. Locals passed me with baskets twice my weight, barely breaking a sweat. I kept waiting for the clarity people talk about—the big revelation. Instead, I just felt small. At night, the cold crept into my bones and I missed the sound of traffic. I kept scrolling through old messages in tea houses with no WiFi, pretending I was more present than I really was.
