How I Ended a Friendship Without Making an Enemy

Breaking up with a friend is way harder than breaking up with a date. Trust me, I’ve been there. I once had a buddy, Jake, who I’d known since college. We used to be inseparable, but over time, our lives just went in totally different directions. I dreaded the talk, but I knew ghosting him would be cruel. So, I invited him for coffee at our old hangout spot and told him honestly, “I think we’re just not on the same page anymore.” I thanked him for all the good times and tried not to sound like I was firing him from a job.
