Apparently, Loving Minimum Wage Is a Requirement Now?

I’m a 19-year-old college student, and lately, I’ve been hunting for a part-time job just to help cover my bills. But every job ad I see is acting like I should be thrilled to work for minimum wage, as if I’m supposed to have some burning passion for stocking shelves or ringing up groceries. The other day, I applied at a local supermarket, and they actually wanted me to write a paragraph about why I want to work there. Honestly, I just need the money—there’s no secret dream of becoming Employee of the Month. But I had to force myself to write what they wanted to hear, and it felt so fake. It’s frustrating because I feel like I have to pretend to be someone I’m not just to get a job. Has anyone else felt this way?
