Lately, I've been feeling a strange tension at work, but nothing prepared me for what my friend, who works as the executive assistant, told me. She confided that she saw my name on a mysterious 'headcount savings' list. Apparently, there are two lists: one for people who have already left (some not by choice), and a shorter one—mine included—of those who might be next. I've been with this company for years, and honestly, my pay is pretty good for my background. But now, I'm stuck in a cycle of worry. What does this list really mean? Is my time here almost up? I know I have some rights in the US, but companies always seem to find a way around them. I'm losing sleep over this and don't know if I should start job hunting or just wait it out.
