Living at home in Chicago, I feel like my life’s on display 24/7. My dad’s convinced that marriage is the answer to all my problems—even though he’s been divorced three times! Every time I bring up my job hunt or the anxiety about my jaw surgery, he just rolls his eyes and tells me I’m lazy because I’m not married yet. He’s always suspicious, acting like I’m hiding some secret boyfriend or sneaking around. He even grabs my phone to check my messages!
