Why Are Managers So Afraid of WFH? 🤔

I work in a mid-sized tech company in Chicago, and lately, I've been banging my head against the wall trying to understand my manager's obsession with everyone being in the office. Seriously, if all my work is on a laptop, why do I need to spend an hour in traffic just to sit at a desk? I've brought up how working from home saves money, time, and even helps those of us with kids or aging parents. But every time, my boss—who's a proud Gen X—just gives me this look like I've asked for a unicorn. Is it a control thing? Or do they just miss the old days of water cooler chats and endless meetings? I'm honestly at a loss here and it's stressing me out. Has anyone else dealt with this? What am I missing?
