How I Faced My Highway and Bridge Driving Anxiety

This is my story about suddenly developing intense anxiety while driving on highways and bridges. I’m 42 and have been driving since I was 16, including cross-country trips and countless bridges. But in 2015, panic attacks hit me out of nowhere—tunnel vision, dizziness, the works. It’s been tough not being able to take my family on road trips. Lately, I’ve managed to cross a few local bridges without freaking out. What’s helped? Practicing on short, familiar routes, deep breathing, and sometimes having a friend ride along. If you’ve been through this, I’d love to hear your tips or encouragement! #DrivingAnxiety #MentalHealthJourney #OvercomingFear #Cars
