Blending Bonds: Navigating Sibling Jealousy After a Stepson's Return

After nearly five years apart, my 11-year-old stepson is finally back in our lives, following a long communication gap with his mom. My husband and I also have two younger kids—a 7-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter. For the past year and a half, my husband has been rebuilding his connection with his eldest through one-on-one outings like movies and bowling. While this has been wonderful for them, I’ve noticed our younger son feeling a bit left out, now that he has to share his dad after years of having him to himself. We’re slowly helping all the kids connect—last Christmas and Easter, the younger two picked out gifts for their big brother, which he loved.
