Chewy Nugget Ice at Home

Grab a medium-sized ice cube tray—square molds work best for that classic nugget feel. Pour super fizzy club soda or carbonated water into each mold, filling them halfway for smaller, softer cubes. If you want a twist, try a flavored sparkling water. Freeze the tray flat for at least 6 hours (overnight is even better). The cubes should look cloudy when they’re ready. Pop the cubes out. If they stick, gently tap the tray on the counter. Toss the cubes in a blender with a strong motor (400+ watts) and pulse until you get that perfect chewable texture. No blender? Use a muddler or even a rolling pin with a Lewis bag for bigger batches. Serve the crushed ice in your favorite drink. It melts a bit faster, but the texture is unbeatable.
