This year, I had big plans for my backyard tomatoes. I pictured baskets overflowing with every color and shape. But nature had other ideas. Rain came late, and the sun just wouldn’t cooperate. My plants struggled, and I had to get creative. I mulched early to keep the soil moist and checked leaves every morning for pests. Sometimes, I’d pinch off extra flowers so the plants could focus on ripening what they had. Even though I didn’t get the wild variety I hoped for, picking those homegrown tomatoes felt like a win. Every slice on my sandwich reminded me that patience and a little daily care go a long way.
