Balancing Pride and Trust: Navigating Consequences with Teens

When my teen made a choice that broke my trust, I found myself torn between pride in their growth and disappointment in their actions. I wanted them to know I still saw their potential, but also that trust is earned. Instead of harsh punishment, I chose a consequence that reflected both: I gave them more responsibility at home, like managing a family project, but limited their social privileges until they rebuilt trust.
