Is Leaving Work On Time Now a Crime?

I’m a graphic designer at a tiny startup—just five of us in a cramped office. My hours are 9 to 6, and I make about $1800 a month. I always finish my tasks on time, and honestly, I don’t get paid for overtime, so I usually leave right at 6. But lately, my boss has been acting like I’m committing some kind of offense by not staying late. She barely responds when I say goodbye, and last week, she told me my work isn’t up to par—even though I met every deadline. She asked me to redo a project, hinting I should stay late, but I still managed to finish during regular hours. Now, she’s giving me the cold shoulder, and I’m left wondering—am I missing something? Is it wrong to leave work on time if you’re getting everything done? I’m honestly stressed and could use some advice. What would you do in my shoes? 😕 #WorkplaceDrama #CareerAdvice #OfficeLife #JobCareer

It’s the company culture problem. If most people are staying late it looks weird. I use to work 7-4 so I could prick up my kids on time but others had 9-6 so they didn’t see me get in early and always looked like I left early. The unfair perception is real. Especially when they groan about having to make meeting in my schedule or worse when they “had to” meet without me. It’s you can, change jobs for a better fit. If you can’t, make sure you communicate often in detail about what you do or the assumptions of slacking will always prevail when u aren’t in the room.
