Should Chores Like Taking Out the Trash Be Gendered?

Growing up, I remember my parents dividing chores between my siblings and me. My brother always took out the trash, while I was assigned indoor tasks. As I became a parent, I started questioning if these divisions really made sense. Why shouldn't my daughter take out the trash? I want her to feel capable and responsible, just like her brother. Sometimes, she even volunteers, proud to help out. I believe teaching all our kids—regardless of gender—to share household duties prepares them for real life. What do you think? Do you assign chores based on tradition, or do you mix things up? Share your thoughts below! #FamilyValues #ParentingJourney #RaisingStrongGirls #Parenting
