Can You Inherit Grandma’s Social Security?

Ever wondered if you can keep getting Grandma’s Social Security checks after she passes? Here’s the scoop: You can’t just keep the money rolling in—Social Security needs to be notified when someone dies, and keeping those checks is a big no-no (think: fraud). BUT, if Grandma was raising you and you’re under 18 (or a full-time student under 19), you might qualify for survivor benefits. It’s not automatic, so check with Social Security to see what you’re eligible for! #MoneyHacks #SocialSecurity #FamilyFinance #Finance

For those who pass in the first year of retirement , social security should give to the family the amount in years they feel life expectancy is . People work and pay in to SS their entire life. It’s ridiculous that the SS gets to keep what was paid in.

I believe the one that is retired on social security when they die the social security should pay for thier funeral. but the family only gets 255 to go for thier funeral. Then the government keeps the money they should have had.I mean really!!!!

My dad got disability when we found out he had cancer in 1989. It took almost a year. On August 19th of 1990 my dad passed away. September 3rd he got all his back pay. When my mom called SS, The first thing they said was, since your husband died before he received his first disability check, you must return the check to SS. I thought that was so wrong.

The government has turned social security into a mess it's a shame they tell you when you can draw ss but still, they want to keep raising the age for retirement. They don't you collect the money that you pay every week or every two weeks. It's a shame what they have done with this program.
