hiking fjadrargljufur canyon: worth the muddy shoes?

Last weekend, we finally made it to Fjadrargljufur Canyon after hearing so much about it. The drive from Kirkjubæjarklaustur was longer than I expected, and the last stretch was full of potholes—my poor old sedan took a beating! When we got there, the view was breathtaking, but the trail was super muddy. I slipped twice, and my new walking shoes are still stained. Honestly, I started wondering if the Instagram photos oversell it a bit. The crowds were bigger than I thought, too. Has anyone else been here and felt like the reality didn’t quite match the hype? Or maybe I just picked the wrong day? I love a good hike, but I’m not sure if the muddy mess was worth it this time.
