A few weeks ago, my 6-year-old daughter was heartbroken when she learned she wouldn’t be part of her dad’s wedding. She had been so excited, imagining herself in a pretty dress, standing beside him. It was tough to see her so disappointed, and I struggled to find the right words to comfort her. Over time, we talked about all the ways she could still celebrate her dad’s special day, even if she wasn’t in the ceremony. We made a card together and picked out a small gift. She’s still a little sad, but I’m proud of how she’s handling her feelings. Have you ever helped your child through a similar disappointment?
