Why HFMD Is Spreading in Kids RN

Noticed more kids with rashes on their hands and feet lately? Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is making the rounds, especially in child-care settings. It’s super contagious (think: toys, doorknobs, even diaper changes), but usually not serious. The main signs: fever, crankiness, mouth sores, and a rash on palms and soles. If your kid catches it, keep them home for a bit and check your daycare’s rules. Pro tip: Wash hands like it’s your job and disinfect all the things! #ParentingTips #HFMD #HealthAlert #MomLife #ChildCare #Health

Children 0-13yrs with HFMD who refuse to eat or drink can visit the doctor, urgent card or ER for help. Usually Magic mouthwash will work wonders.

I got this from my granddaughter two summers ago, It was absolutely horrible! It was one of the most miserable things I have ever had! It was the gift that kept giving. I lost my nails and, six months later, lost my toe nails. So painful!, I couldn't imagine how the little ones tolerate it.

We had this a few months ago, and it was awful. It was the sickest.I had been in a long time. And I didn't get it until two weeks after my kids had it. The rash was horrendous. My kids didn't present with the rash a whole ton, but I did, and it was so bad. Imagine having like hundreds of mosquito bites. The cough caused in my kids.I thought they had croup

Poor hygiene and not enough hand washing! Keep dirty unwashed hands out of the mouth 👄 and stop allowing people to come inside the home with their shoes still on harboring tons of germs 🦠 viruses and bacteria SHOES OFF AT THE DOOR STRAIGHT TO THE SINK TO WASH THE HANDS AND DISINFECT SURFACES 🤔

Sorry, but don't walk barefoot around the house or outdoors while so many little neighbors have the rash. Take off shoes at the door. Socks are cheap; put on a clean pair after every bath, shower, or foot-washing--after drying feet completely. I didn't wear shoes indoors or outdoors as a child, which meant my calloused little feet were not easily cut or scratched, so I never had an infection or rash on my feet, although I walked miles on dirt roads in all weathers. My dad wore boots to work, but always left them at the door. That and thick socks are good protection for little feet.

the best remedies is to rub or if they are old enough have the child swoosh Benadryl as if it were mouth wash the Benadryl works like a numbing aid however it is a medication so like with any other remedies use caution and observe carefully

To avoid Hand Foot Mouth Disease please be preventative and wash your hands and don’t allow germ infested shoes inside your home where you walk around barefoot 🦶

I caught HFMD at age 27 after a neighbor let their infected child play outside with my kids. Both of my kids caught it. I was much more ill than they were. I wish parents could keep their sick children at home. But sometimes that isn't possible due to work & financial obligations.
