Let's be real—talking to autistic people can feel intimidating at first. But honestly? It doesn't have to be! Here’s what I’ve learned that makes things SO much easier (and way more fun): • Forget about eye contact! 🙈 It’s not a big deal. I just focus on the convo, not where we’re looking. • Always ask before touching. A simple “Wanna hug?” goes a long way! • Quiet spaces = better chats. I try to avoid noisy spots so we can actually hear each other. • I keep my words clear and simple. No sarcasm or inside jokes unless I know they’re cool with it. • If there’s a meltdown or shutdown, I give space and patience. No questions, just support. ❤️ • Stimming? Totally normal! I let them be themselves and don’t make it weird. • I ask about their needs instead of guessing. It’s way better for both of us! At the end of the day, it’s all about respect, kindness, and appreciating people for who they are.
