Affordable Housing Cuts Hit Black Renters Hard

This is wild—huge cuts to affordable housing are about to hit, and Black renters could be the hardest hit. Decades of underfunding have already left public housing in rough shape, and now, with billions in federal cuts and programs like Section 8 on the chopping block, thousands could lose their homes. Community leaders are fighting back, but the threat of displacement is real. It’s like history repeating itself, and it’s honestly heartbreaking to see families’ futures hanging by a thread. #AffordableHousing #BlackRenters #HousingCrisis #Section8 #PublicHousing #Safety

Housing assistance was meant to be a springboard, not a permanent safety net. People should be using this support to work toward independence—not relying on it indefinitely. No nation can sustain a system where support becomes a way of life instead of a stepping stone.

$ 1700 a month is the limit for sec 8 for a single person. You can't even find a rental for that in the bay area. The limits have not been raised in over 30 years. This is partly the reason so many people are homeless out here .They can't afford to get into a place. This will hit more elderly people than anything.

landlords need to bring down the prices of the rent where all people will be eligible to find a place to rent and quit price gouging

Just an idea: wait to have children till you buy your own place. Pass down generational wealth to your children. Get 3 jobs if you have to.

listen, 80% of people on section 8 are employed. If people start losing there homes, the regular people suffer too. These land lords will raise the remaining tenants tent to compensate the tenants they have evict. This will hurt every renter in or out of the program. The people that had a problem with people on section 8 will wish they were on it. Oh, the people on section 8 that do work don't make enough to pay market rate rent.

If you are disabled collecting SSDI and you have Section 8 times like this are scary. Everyone on section 8 isn't able to work. also rent isn't free on section 8 it is based on your income, from working or SSI.

is definitely going to affect these landlords because nobody going to pay their high rent or be able to afford their high rent without multiple people living in an apartment that's too small to hold so many family members
