Seriously though, did some of y'all really manage to lock in a 2.00% mortgage rate back in 2020? That's just wild! I remember scrolling through my feed back then and seeing all these posts about historically low rates but seriously, 2.00%? That's like almost borrowing money for free, right? I was kind of kicking myself for not jumping on the bandwagon at the time. Now we're stuck with rising rates and I'm sitting here wondering if I missed the unicorn of mortgage deals. Is there anyone out there who actually got that deal and can tell me how life is on the other side? I'm genuinely curious and maybe even a tad jealous. I got a 2.25 in 2020 when I bought my house. It was brand new and is 2100 sq. ft. on a half acre of land. I was so very fortunate and blessed as I also had some money I had saved in a CD at my bank so my mortgage payment is only $696.00 a month. I honestly feel sorry for young couples starting out. They won’t have the option of becoming home owners unless they have big income. This is the 4th house I’ve owned on my own. I have been very blessed.
