Is 8GB VRAM Still Enough in 2024?

Just saw the new Nvidia Geforce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB benchmarks and, honestly, the performance gap compared to the 16GB version is wild. Some games are basically unplayable at higher settings due to VRAM limitations. With prices creeping up, is there any reason to go for the 8GB card when the Radeon RX 7700 XT or even the 16GB version exist?
