Is it odd to call my teen's school?

Parenting is freaking wild sometimes. So, here's the thing: My 15-year-old comes home yesterday, all moody and acting like I've personally ruined his life 'cause I won't let him bring his damn phone out during dinner. Okay, fine, teenagers right? But then he's all ranting about how his math teacher isn't teaching squat and now he's worried about failing. My first instinct is, "Hell yeah, I'm marching up to the school and having a word!" But the husband thinks I'll just embarrass him more. Says it's better for him to fight his own battles and learn from it. But I can't help it! Mama bear mode activates and I just wanna shake the teacher around a little, you know? Anyone else just a nervous wreck trying to balance protecting your kid and letting them grow?
