why free k-12 but not free college

Ever wonder why we get free education through high school, but suddenly college costs an arm and a leg? 🤔 Like, we all agree education is important enough that taxes pay for 13 years of schooling… but then we’re suddenly on our own? I’m genuinely curious - what’s the logic? Is it because college isn’t considered “essential”? Or because not everyone goes? But shouldn’t we want MORE people to have higher education? Other countries figure this out! Germany, Norway, Finland all offer free or super affordable college. What would happen if we treated college like K-12? Would our taxes really skyrocket that much? Or would we just have a more educated population with less debt? #HigherEducation #EducationEquity
