Should I get a corn snake? What do I need to know?

I’ve been considering getting a corn snake lately, but I’m a little worried about making mistakes. I used to be afraid of snakes, but I feel like I might have gotten over that… though I’m still not 100% sure. I’ve heard they’re great beginner pets, but is that true? Any tips on how to handle one or things I should know before getting one? Also, are there places where I can interact with snakes up close to test it out first?
