That Expired Date? It’s Not What You Think! 🥫

So, that “expired” date you’re seeing on your food? It’s probably a “sell by” date, not an actual expiration date. The sell by date is just there to tell the store when to take the product off the shelf. The “best by” date is for flavor, not safety. And canned goods? They last WAY longer than you think! Low-acid cans can last up to 5 years if unopened. Even opened cans can last a few days to a week. So before tossing that “expired” food, check again—it might still be good!#FoodStorage #CannedGoods

If opened and it looks and smells bad, it's bad. plus, the top of the milk jug sometimes smells a bit off, wipe it clean and try the milk. Most likely it's still good.

Anything canned, with tomatoes in it should be discarded by the BB date. I tried to use old tomato soup and it had a taste like metal. Some stuff is fine after the date, just be careful.

The two expiration dates that I get a laugh from are for water and salt. Both have been around since the beginning of time and suddenly the FDA decides they need expiration dates. 😆

I had an expiration date on my eggs and i used them 3 months after the date and they were still good. I have canned goods from when i first moved in my apartment still and they’re good amytime i open them.

it's a marketing ploy by big manufacturers to make you think it's bad so you spend more money on their products. consumer equals sucker.
