why does my dog stare at me like it knows my secrets?

My dog just sits there and stares at me. Not like “give me food” or “let’s go out”—it’s more like they’re reading my soul. Sometimes I’m doing nothing, just chilling on the couch, and boom—locked in eye contact like we’re having a silent convo. I’ve read that dogs might be trying to read our emotions or waiting for cues, but is it weird that mine does this even when I’m doing nothing?
