Why do makeup tutorials feel like watching magic but no one tells you the tricks?

I watch these vids, and it’s all “do this, do that,” but… what brush? What color? How?? They skip the good stuff! Lipstick? “Just dab with your finger.” OK, but where? How much? No clue. I’ve learned more from cooking vids—step by step, tool by tool. Makeup gurus, why so mysterious?
