Peace Feels Heavy Here

There’s a monument outside Stavanger—three giant swords jammed into a hill by the water. They call it a tribute to peace, but standing there, all I could think about was how peace is never clean. The blades are massive, brutal, impossible to ignore. Tourists take smiling photos. I just stared at the rust, the way the wind howled off the fjord. I wanted to feel inspired.
